Peek at my week
I can't believe how fast the first week back went. We had a New Year lunch on Friday where we counted down (at 12 noon) and watched the fireworks on youtube from Dubai.
This week we are continuing to work on our new sight words. Two of my 4 littles in group 2 have them all and the other two have 3 out of the 5. I've sent home the words on their word ring so I hope they have practiced over the weekend.
This week we are introducing two word families "an" and "at". I'm looking forward to making Lidia's CVC crowns. I think the kids are really going to enjoy wearing them.

Back to school
I can't believe that Christmas vacation is over. I had a great holiday and I hope you did too.
We had a huge ice storm here just before Christmas and it knocked power out to a lot of surrounding communities. Luckily we were just without power for about 5 hours on Christmas day. My sister, unfortunately, was without power for 5 days.
It was also so cold that we experienced cryoeisems, or frost quakes. They were so scary. It sounded like the house was cracking apart. You can read more about them here.
I'm trying a bit of a new schedule in the new year. I'm hoping it works. We'll take this week to try it out.
This week's plans include some activities from some of my friends over at Freebielicious. You can find the links to everything by downloading the file (click on the first picture).

New Year Hop
Have you set some New Years resolutions for yourself this year? I typically tell myself a thing or two that I want to do differently, but I never write them down or do anything to hold myself accountable for following through on them. This year I want that to be different! I want to set goals and I want to reach them.
My friends at Freebielicious and I want to share some of our goals and resolutions for 2014 with you! To help you get a jump start on the new year we've also added some freebies that may help you reach your own similiar goals.
In order to begin to be more organized, I made up this little freebie. I'm a list maker and I love making lists. I thought this might help me become a little more organized in class. I always do a bunch of work at home and then when I get to school, I forget which files I was going to print out or what I needed to copy. Hopefully this will help.
